cricothyroid membrane
the fibrous tissue in the anterior aspect of the neck between the lower border of the thyroid cartilage (the ‘Adam's apple’) and the upper border of the cricoid cartilage, lying immediately below it. It is the site where certain emergency airway devices can be inserted.
